We have not appointed a Data Protection Officer (DPO) unless stated otherwise.

2. What personal data we process

• Email address (to send reminders and service messages)
• Saved content (Ideas/quotes you paste, source/author, tags/notes if any)
• Settings and metadata (cadence, timestamps, timezone preferences if used)
• Account data (if you register: login identifier, password hash or auth token, account status)
• Technical data (IP address, device/browser data, logs, anti-abuse signals)

3. Purposes and legal bases

3.1 Providing the Service (sending reminders, managing Ideas)

Purpose: deliver reminder emails, maintain your saved Ideas, manage your settings.
Legal basis: performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

3.2 Optional registration and account management

Purpose: enable editing/removal of Ideas and account features.
Legal basis: performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

3.3 Security, abuse prevention, and service integrity

Purpose: protect the Service (rate limits, fraud prevention, debugging, incident handling).
Legal basis: legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

3.4 Legal obligations

Purpose: comply with legal duties (e.g., handling complaints or lawful requests).
Legal basis: legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR).

We do not use your email address for marketing newsletters unless you separately opt in.

4. Who we share data with (recipients/processors)

We use vetted service providers (processors) necessary to operate the Service, such as:

• hosting/infrastructure providers,
• database providers,
• email delivery provider(s),
• monitoring/logging providers.

They process data only on our instructions and under appropriate contractual safeguards.

5. International transfers

If any of our providers process data outside the European Economic Area, we use appropriate safeguards (typically Standard Contractual Clauses) and additional measures where necessary.

6. Retention (how long we keep data)

We keep personal data only as long as needed:

• Ideas and reminder settings: while you use the Service, and typically until you delete them (registered users) or request deletion / unsubscribe.
• Account data: until you delete the account (and then for a limited period where needed for security/legal purposes).
• Logs/security data: typically retained for a limited period (e.g., days to months), unless needed longer for incident investigation or legal claims.

If you want strict time limits, set them here (e.g., “logs retained for 30 days”).

7. Your rights

Subject to GDPR conditions, you have the right to:

• access your personal data (Art. 15),
• rectification (Art. 16),
• erasure (Art. 17),
• restriction (Art. 18),
• data portability (Art. 20),
• object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21),
• lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Art. 77).

8. How to exercise your rights

Send your request to: privacy@ideareminder.com. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling requests.

9. Automated decision-making

We do not use your data for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects (Art. 22 GDPR). Reminder scheduling is a technical function of the Service.

10. Security

We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect data (access controls, encryption in transit, least-privilege access, monitoring, etc.). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

11. Children

The Service is not intended for children under 16. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

12. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version will be published with the effective date.
